Died peacefully on March 6, 2017 at the age of 64 after bravely battling lung and brain cancer for two years; of Lancaster, NY; Lovingly devoted husband of Rosemary A. Maloney-Hoffman and the late Barbara J. (nee Stahl) Tice Hoffman. Dear step-father of Amy L. Bascom, late Lori L. Nemi, late Marc D. Tice and step-grandfather of Justin Tocco, Nicholas Dowd, Stephanie Barraclough, Kevin Bascom and Christopher Cassidy. Beloved son of the late John L. and late Geraldine L. (nee Jones) Hoffman and son-in-law of James E. (late Anna) Maloney. Dearest brother of Susan M. (H. James) Marshall, Kevin J. (Eileen) Hoffman and brother-in-law of James J. (Karen) Maloney and Joseph P. (Tabitha) Maloney. Cherished uncle of Ryan P. Maloney, Emily A. Maloney, Rebecca R. Hoffman and Natalie L. Hoffman. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Thursday and Friday 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 5090 Transit Road (south of Como Park Blvd.) where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence Church at 11:00 a.m. Entombment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. David was a retiree of General Motors/American Axle, Tonawanda Plant and a member of UAW Local #846, International Brotherhood of Magicians, Gene Gordon-Karl Norman I.B.M. Ring 12 (Buffalo, NY) and Karl Hehr #59 Racing Team. David loved all animals particularly the polar bears.
