December 23, 2013; of Akron, NY. Former husband of Mary Ann (nee Diegelman) Hertel; dearest father of James (Alicia) Hertel, Debora (David) Zack, Susan (Steven) Pisano, Gerald (Julie) Hertel and the late Jeffrey Hertel; dear grandfather of twelve grandchildren and one great granddaughter Isabella; brother of Norma (late John) Horton; also survived by nieces. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends Monday 4-8 PM at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 5090 Transit Rd. (south of Como Park Blvd.) Mr. Hertel was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a former owner of Ace Specialty Co. and loved photography. Flowers gratefully declined.
