Peacefully entered into rest on February 18, 2018, at the age of 90; of Cheektowaga, NY; Loving husband of the late Anna E. (nee Kudrna) Maloney. Devoted father of James J. (Karen) Maloney, Rosemary A. (late David) Hoffman and Joseph P. (Tabitha) Maloney. Beloved grandfather of Ryan Patrick Maloney, Emily Ann Maloney, Daniel J. (Tara) Graziadei, Elizabeth M. (Bon) Mazurek and great-grandfather of Addalyn May Graziadei, Colin Daniel Graziadei and Logan James Mazurek. Dearest son of the late George M. and the late Dorothy (nee Murray) Maloney. Precious grandson of the late James C. and the late Agnes (nee Marshall) Exner. Treasured son-in-law of the late Joseph A. and the late Anna M. (nee Sojka) Kudrna. Cherished brother-in-law of the late Donald G. and the late Marie R. (nee Kudrna) Ignatz. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 22 and Friday, February 23 from 4-8 p.m. at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 5090 Transit Road (south of Como Park Blvd.) where prayers will be offered on Saturday, February 24 at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. James was a proud war veteran serving in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Kensington Post #708. A technician for Union Carbide/Linde Division, James retired in 1984. James, a master magician, began performing magic at the age of ten. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians Karl Norman Assembly. He was past president and current Board of Directors member of Gene Gordon-Karl Norman I.B.M. Ring 12 (Buffalo, NY). James and his wife Ann would often be seen touring the countryside in his MG which he affectionately referred to as “The Green Banana”. He was a member of the Buffalo Octagon Association during which time he wrote the Club’s newsletter. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’s memory to St. Lawrence Church, 1520 E. Delavan Avenue Buffalo, NY 14215.
