August 6, 2014 age 76 of Depew, NY. Beloved husband of Jean M. (nee Pauly) Speyer; dearest father of James Jr. (Donna), Daniel (Terianne), Sharon (Richard) Backert, Richard (Lee Ann), Judith (Michael) Wozniak, Robert (Lori) and Mary Pat (Sean) Mahony; dear grandfather of James III, Joseph, Matthew, Andrew, Maggie, Daniel Jr., Noah, Jack, Richard Jr., Kyle, Alissa, Shannon, John, Sara, Samantha, Michaela, Hanna, Benjamin, Nicholas, Mackenzie, Molly, Conor, Casey and Brendan; brother of Helen (late Edmund) McGrath, Jack (Nancy), Kathy (late Alan) LeClaire, late William (Pat) and the late Harry Speyer; also survived by nieces and nephews. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends Thursday and Friday from 1-3 and 7:30-9:30 PM at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 5090 Transit Rd. (south of Como Park Blvd.) where prayers will be said on Saturday at 9:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martha Parish (formerly Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church) at 10:30 AM.
