AGOSTINELLI – Jean R. (nee Riter)
May 6, 2020 age 86 of West Seneca, NY. Beloved wife of 64 years to the late Guy J. Agostinelli, Jr.; cherished mother of Linda (David) Dains, Guy (Pamela) Agostinelli, Ann (Christopher) Auffrey and Susan (Gregory) Gawrys; devoted Nana of Allison (Andrew) Smith, Elizabeth (Dana) Mitchell, Julie (Arthur) Musarra, Jenna Agostinelli, Guy Michael Agostinelli, Matthew (Emily) Auffrey, Andrew Auffrey, Gregory Gawrys Jr., Jack Gawrys and a step grandson Michael (Brenna) Rybak; loving “G-Nana” to 8 great grandchildren; daughter of the late John and Viola (nee Smith) Riter; sister of the late Jack Riter; loving sister-in-law of the late Linda (late Arthur) Lawson Berger, late Aldo (Anne Marie) (late Betty) Agostinelli, Helen (late James) Ralabate and Dora (late Gino) Cesar; also survived by nieces, nephews and many dear Riter cousins; Jean graduated from Mt. Mercy Academy and Bryant and Stratton Business School and worked as a legal secretary, but her main focus was her job as “Chief Operating Officer” of their home and raising their family. She was an excellent cook and known for her delicious spaghetti sauce and meatballs as well as her apple pie. At Christmas and holidays she gifted people with her pizzelles. Volunteering was so rewarding to her. She worked at Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo and Erie County and also at ComPeer. She taught CCD First Communicants at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. She treasured babysitting her grandchildren and attending their music recitals and school events. In retirement she and Guy golfed, traveled and socialized with their many friends. Italy was their favorite adventure. They loved family gatherings, picnics and “just being together”. Jean was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease eight years ago, but with family support, still led a full life until the last few years. The family appreciates the loving care she received at Heathwood Assisting Living and Memory Care where she enjoyed crafting and weekly performances, consistent with her life long love of music. Her final weeks were spent at Weinburg Campus and the family thanks the attentive and compassionate staff. It was so difficult not being able to visit her. A Private Service will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in Jean’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. WNY Chapter 6215 Sheridan Dr. #100 Williamsville, NY 14221. Jean’s family would like your memory of her to be a happy one. Arrangements by MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME
