April 3, 2013 at the age of 95 of Cheektowaga, NY. Beloved husband of 65 years to Christine E. (nee Czech) Richter; dearest father of Carol L. (Doug) MacNeil and Gerard C. "Gary" Richter; dear grandfather of Daniel J. (Kelly) MacNeil and Margaret M. MacNeil; son of the late Stanley J. and Margaret P. (nee Olesinski) Richter; brother of Irene, Rich (Virginia), Alice (Jim) Parker and predeceased by Frank, Stan, Dorothy (Fred) Kintzel, Marion (Frank) Dragan and Ed (Lil) Richter; brother-in-law of the late Florence Czech and Eleanor (Leo) Andrews; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 85 George Urban Blvd. (west of Harlem Rd.) Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday in Queen of Martyrs Church at 9 AM. Interment St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Mr. Richter was a Veteran of WW II serving as a 1st Sergeant, 749th Field Artillery Battalion in the Pacific Theater, a 50 year member of Pine Hill Hose Co. #5 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Erie County Firemen's Assn. and retired in 1980 after working at Republic Steel as a mason for 35 years. Memorial may be made to Hospice Buffalo 225 Como Park Blvd. Cheektowaga, NY 14227. The Family of John is deeply appreciative for the loving care he received from Hospice Buffalo and Pine Hill Rescue Squad.
