John Michael Tonjes, 57, formerly of Burnt Hills and Buffalo, NY passed away peacefully into eternal life on 8 May 2024 at Erie County Medical Centre, Buffalo, NY.
John is preceded in death by his father Bruce Feathers whom John was the spitting image of, and his parents Arthur and Rosemary Tonjes and son Jake Tonjes
John was the son of Annette Roth, father of John Tonjes Jr., Quinn Tonjes and Megan Tonjes, the brother of Christopher Tonjes and brother-in law of Kimberly and Anthony Dobiesz, Jessica and Philip Ostrowski and Kristen and Rob Wood, Catherine and Tim Williams and Tiffany and Rodney Lewis. He was the uncle of Matthew Dobiesz, Olivia Dobiesz, Reid Ostrowski, Lola Ostrowski, Emmet Ostrowski, Claire Williams-Sauer, jess Sauer, Nicholas Williams, Ashley and Scott Salmon.
He graduated from Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School where he excelled in athletics and developed a passion for motorcycles. John obtained his associate’s degree as a CASAC and had a career in addiction treatment counseling that spanned several decades
John was a giver and enjoyed sharing his love of baseball with young people by coaching girls' softball and umpiring. John was also a motorcycle enthusiast. His motorcycle trips took him all across the eastern United States but he had a special place in his heart for the Blue Ridge Mountains and its eponymous Blue Ridge Parkway.
The family will be present Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 4pm – 8pm at the New Comer Funeral home at 5090 Transit Rd, Depew, NY
