Karen M. Backes

Karen M. Backes, 76, of Tonawanda, NY, peacefully entered eternal rest on January 24, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Backes, a partnership grounded in love and companionship that blossomed through the years.

Karen’s legacy continues through her children, Todd (Karry) Backes and Jill (James) Orlandi, who remember her as a source of unwavering support and inspiration. She took immense joy in being a grandmother, cherishing each moment spent with her grandchildren—Cody, Abbigail, Anna, Violet, Allie, Ivy, and Chelsea—who brought light and laughter into her life.

A devoted sister, Karen shared a special bond with her sister, Kathleen McCarville, and remembered fondly her late siblings, Philip Curry and Patricia (late James) Keil. Karen's family was further enriched by numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a cherished place in her heart.

While there will be no prior visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where loved ones can come together to honor the beautiful life Karen led. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Buffalo, Inc., reflecting her spirit of caring for others.

Karen M. Backes will be deeply missed and remembered for her kind heart, radiant smile, and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
