October 23, 2016; of Cheektowaga, NY; at the age of 85; Beloved husband of 60 years to Marcia E. (nee Kociemski) Szczygielski. Dearest father of Mark (Jennifer) Szczygielski, Sandra Neville and Lori (Kyle) Luther. Dear grandfather of Erica, Clint and Kaila. Brother of Casimer (late Patricia) Szczygielski, late Edward (late Ann) Szczygielski, late Wanda (late Casimer) Izydorczak, late Josephine (late John) Siepierski and the late Henry (late Janet) Szczygielski. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 5090 Transit Road (south of Como Park Blvd.) where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. and from St. Martha Parish at 9:30 a.m. Entombment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Leonard was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a retiree of the General Motors Powertrain Plant, member of the American Legion Francis J. Donovan Post #1626, Knights of Columbus Fr.
