Gorniak – Maria (nee Gorecki)
February 7, 2021, age 91, of Cheektowaga, NY. Beloved wife of the late Stefan Gorniak; loving mother of Mark and Steven; daughter of the late Jan Sr. and Marta (nee Sojka) Gorecki; sister of Teresa, predeceased by Peter, Sr. Mary Irena (Regina), Janina, Jadwiga, and Jan Jr.; also survived by nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 23rd at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Maria completed formal vocal training in Poland, and sang in the Polish Radio Choir in Krakow before immigrating to America. Maria was a devout parishioner at Queen of Martyrs Church, St. John Gualbert Church, and a cherished member of the Chopin Singing Society. Maria loved singing, world travel, and language/culture studies, but selflessly caring for her family, parents, and siblings was her greatest love. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html .
