December 9, 2012 age 93; beloved husband of the late Arlene (nee Prefert) Hess; dearest father of late Sandra Hess, Lee (Joan) Hess, David (Mary) Hess and Bonnie Hess-Dagonese (Joseph Dagonese); dear grandfather of Brian (Tammy) Hess, Laura (Phil) Holmes, Karin Hess, Alison Hess, Megan (Jason) Babirad and great grandfather of Erin "Harper" Holmes, Cylee Marie Hess, Reid Philip Holmes and Cooper James Hess; brother of the late Milford (Thelma) Hess; also survived by nieces and nephews. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 4-9 PM at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 5090 Transit Rd. (south of Como Park Blvd.) where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery. Mr. Hess was an Army veteran of WW II, a retiree of Pepsi, and a member of the American Legion Post 5861, Akron Lodge No. 527 F.&A.M., Buffalo Geological Society known as the "Rock Hound", Quarter Century Wireless Assoc, WNY Antique Wireless, was an amateur radio operator "W2WKU" and the ARRL the National Assoc. for Amateur Radio.
