May 1, 2019, age 87 of Buffalo, NY. Beloved wife of the late Bronislaus “Brownie” S. Wojcik; dearest step-mother of Linda (Genadi) Ponomarenko; daughter of the late Lowell and Gladys Brooks; dear sister of the late Francis (late Lottie) Brooks, Virginia (Herb) Winter, late Velma (late Charles) Spencer, Mary Lou (late Vernon) Sworts and Norma Brooks; also survived by numerous and special nephews, nieces, great and grand nieces and nephews. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Thursday May 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME 85 George Urban Blvd. (west of Harlem Rd.) where funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 AM and from St. John Gualbert Church at 10 AM. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Mrs. Wojcik was a long-term employee of the Buffalo Sabres and was honored to be their very first employee. She was very active in her community, including Executive Women International, her local Block Club and her Church. Verna was honored as the Executive Women’s Buffalo Woman of the Year.
